

3X3 BASKETBALL RULES
1. Court and Ball:
1.1. Games are going to be played in BBC
1.2. DBL Basketball (size 6 for girls, size 7 for boys)
2. Team/ Grouping/ Standings:
2.1. Each team shall consist of no more than 4 players (3 players on the court and 1 substitute).
2.2. Teams are divided into senior boys (grade 10-12), junior boys (grade 7-9) and girls (7-12). For the junior boys category the maximum number of teams is 8 teams total and for the senior boys the maximum team is 16 teams. And for the girls category the maximum number of teams is 6 teams.
2.3. For the girls category, groups will be divided into 2, as the max teams are 6. Each group will consist of 3 teams, there are going to be 1 team who will continue to the final in each group.
The senior and junior teams will play based on grouping (4 groups of 3), the winners of each group will go to the semifinal and final. The Junior teams and teachers will play based on grouping (2 groups of 3), the winners of each group will go to the semifinal and final. Each team will play against each other, the team with the most wins and second most wins will go to the final.
2.4. As for student teams, the senior boys are allowed to team up only with senior boys (for example: grade 10 and grade 12, grade 11 and grade 10, or grade 11 and grade 12).
As for the girls, they are allowed to team up with senior girls and junior girls (for example: grade 12 and grade 9 , grade 10 and grade 9, or grade 11 and grade 12).
Exception: teachers and senior students are allowed to be in the same team
3. Game Officials:
3.1. The game shall be managed minimum by up to 1 official (OSIS representative) and 1 referee (PHE teachers or OSIS representative)
3.2. Games are going to be held in break and lunch, each break and lunch will have 1-2 games.
3.3. Upon a team player’s arrival to BBC, they must directly go to the official’s table for attendance. Players must come 2 minutes before the game starts for attendance.
3.4. There will be no jump ball at the start of the game. Team who gets the ball is determined by coin toss.
3.5. The game is determined to be finished after the three whistles of the referee
4. Beginning of the game:
4.1. A coin flip shall determine which team gets the first possession. The team that wins the coin flip can either choose to benefit from the ball possession at the beginning of the game.
4.2. The game cannot begin if one of the teams is not on the playing court with 3 players ready to play. Players should arrive 2 minutes earlier before the game starts for warm up/attendance (Ex. If the game starts at 10:10, be in the court A/B at 10:08)
4.3. If players from Team A come late by 3 minutes, Team B will automatically be given 3 points at the start of the game. (Ex. If the game starts at 10:10, but the players come at 10:13)
4.4. If players are to come more than 3 minutes late, they will automatically be disqualified.
4.5. Until without further notice to crew members, even if only 1 player comes late, disqualification is still applied. All 4 must be on location 2 minutes before the game starts.
5. Scoring:
5.1. Every shot from inside the arc (1-point field goal area) shall be awarded 1 point.
5.2. Every shot from behind the arc (2-point field goal area) shall be awarded 2 points.
5.3. Every successful free throw shall be awarded 1 point.
5.4. No break after scoring. After team 1 scored, team 2 has to go out from the three point line to score again
5.5. After a change of possession, team has to go outside of the three point line
6. Playing time/ winner of the game:
6.1. The regular playing time shall be 1 period of 10 minutes. No shot clock, first to 21
6.2. The first team to score 21 points or more wins the game if it happens before the end of regular playing time. If the game is more than 10 minutes, the game will be stopped and the winner will be decided based on the highest score.
6.3. The match will last for 10 minutes in real time,the time will not be paused for substitutions, deadballs, fouls, free throws, and etc.
6.4. If the score is tied at 20-20, deuce will be added.
6.5. No timeouts.
6.6. No three seconds in the paint.
6.7. A team shall lose the game by forfeit if at the scheduled starting time of the game the team is not present.
6.8. Teams are not allowed to hold the ball without trying to score, if not the team gets a technical foul
6.9. As for the team who loses the coin toss, the team will get the jump ball first.
7. Fouls/ Free throws:
7.1. All fouls are going to be given a check to restart the possession
8. Game rules:
8.1. FIBA game rules are applied (Carry, Double dribble, Offensive/Defensive fouls, and etc)
8.2. A player shall not run with the ball without dribbling it.
8.3. A player in control of a dribble who steps on or outside a boundary line, even though not touching the ball while on or outside that boundary line, shall not be allowed to return inbounds and continue his dribble. He may not even be the first player to touch the ball after he has re-established a position inbounds.
8.4. A player may not dribble a second time after he has voluntarily ended his first dribble.
8.5. A player who is dribbling may not put any part of his hand under the ball and (1) carry it from one point to another or (2) bring it to a pause and then continue to dribble again.
8.6. A player may dribble a second time if he lost control of the ball because of:

A field goal attempt at his basket, provided the ball touches the backboard or basket ring
-
An opponent touching the ball
-
A pass or fumble which touches his backboard, basket ring or is touched by another player.
8.7. A player shall not kick the ball or strike it with the fist.
8.8. Kicking the ball or striking it with any part of the leg is a violation when it is an intentional act. The ball accidentally striking the foot, the leg or fist is not a violation.
8.9. A player shall not be allowed excessive and/or vigorous swinging of the elbows in swinging motion (no contact) when a defensive player is nearby and the offensive player has the ball.
8.10. A player shall not be the last to touch a ball which rises above the rim level within the cylinder from below.
8.11. A player who receives the ball while standing still may pivot, using either foot as the pivot foot.
8.12. A player who gathers the ball while progressing may take (1) two steps in coming to a stop, passing or shooting the ball, or (2) if he has not yet dribbled, one step prior to releasing the ball. A player who gathers the ball while dribbling may take two steps in coming to a stop, passing, or shooting the ball
9. Apparels:
9.1. There will be light(light color) and dark(Dark color) teams, uniform rules require shirts of the same color on front and back. Shorts also should be the same color on the front and back but can be a different color than the jersey.
9.2. One team should wear the same color to avoid confusion.
9.3. Uniforms are not allowed
9.4. If a team are not have the right apparel, technical foul is given
10. Substitutions:
10.1. Substitutions can be done by any team when the ball becomes dead, prior to the check-ball. The substitute can enter the game after his teammate steps off the court and establishes a physical contact with him. Substitutions can only take place after telling the official.
